Road to Yellowknife, NWT

Wow what a day - where do I begin to tell about our adventures today.  We left High Level, Alberta about 9am this morning after heating the Edge up as there was frost on the windows.  We went through heavy fog at one part of the highway but no rain today.  Saw alot of deer today, came across a sand crane on the side of the highway and finally seen the famous wood bison that everyone told us about.  Seen 3 herds of bison and numerous single ones, hard to believe they roam free without any fences to keep them in.

On our way to Ft. Providence we came across the Alexander Falls and the Twin Falls Gorge, it took our breath away.   At the turn to go to Yellowknife we stopped and took some pictures of The Hay River, again another amazing view.  Had to take the ferry across the MacKenzie River to Ft. Providence where we filled the tank (last stop before Yellowknife) and ate some late lunch that we bought from the Northern Store.  Took a tour around the village and of course took some more pictures.  The road from Edzo to Yellowknife was like a roller coaster ride but we arrived in Yellowknife safe and sound about 6:30pm

The cat seemed a bit restless today spending some time in the back with the dogs and laying on our suitcases but settled in again in her bed.  Hannah and Blitz were good but Molly had a rough day.  In Ft. Providence we stopped for them to have a pee break and she vomited a couple of times and her coughing is increasing.  She has chronic bronchitis and it seems to be getting worse as the days go on even with her puffer on board.  She is finally getting some much needed sleep.

We will spend the next couple of days here in Yellowknife exploring the city and surrounding area.  We fly out to Cambridge Bay on the 16th.  I am not concerned about flying the pets out except for Molly but I have a sedative for her and Mocha will be part of our carry on luggage.

Long day of driving so tonight is our chance to chill and watch the tube.
